Everything in Flow: Natural Oasis and “Sponge City Roof” Roof Greening at St. Jakobshalle

With various setup options and seeds from Reinacher Heide, a natural riverside landscape was created on the roof of St. Jakobshalle – a paradise for insects and birds, on a roof! The “Sponge City Roof” is connected to an adjacent roof for drainage purposes, optimizing water storage.

Unmistakable, Striking, yet Delicately Built and Greened – Futuro Liestal

The design idea for the building greening on the Futuro building developed from an interpretation of the surrounding cultural landscape with principles of Concrete Art. The cultural landscape of Northwestern Switzerland and particularly the Basel Jura is a small-scale mosaic of different agricultural and horticultural uses and plant cultures. The areas immediately adjacent to the Futuro site also correspond to this pattern. Therefore, this characteristic is adapted for the design, especially of the roof. A large-scale ground-based facade greening encloses the strikingly delicate building.

A Model Roof for Agriculture – Greening of the Laying Hen Barn Asphof, Rothenfluh

At Asphof (Rothenfluh), a model roof for agricultural utility buildings was realized, which regulates the temperature inside the “organic” laying hen barn (free-range housing of the chickens) and visually integrates the facility into the surroundings. The 1000 m² were designed with landscape-typical material, according to the procedure of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the University of Applied Sciences Wädenswil. The natural landscape design on the extensive laying hen barn develops into a dry meadow over time, allowing optimal integration of the roof area into the surroundings.

Uptown Basel
Uptown Basel is an international competence center for Industry 4.0. On the historic Schoren site in Arlesheim near Basel, a development and production site is being created where selected technology companies and other organizations are settling. The intensive roof greening is part of the concept for closed resource cycles in an area with ecological pioneer character.

15:30 Facade Greenings Rheingasse and Oberer Rheinweg

Various facade greenings adorn the buildings on the prominent front to the Rhine. They are complemented by a current street project in the directly adjacent Rheingasse, which is being upgraded through facade greening measures promoted by the city.
